This example demonstrates that I am keen to contribute to the profession. It felt great sharing my knowledge and passion with my peers, and the feedback I received was really positive. By the end of my presentation, the other student-teachers were all expressing how my presentation made 3D printing seem much more accessible and that they could definitely see the value in using one in the classroom. Giving this presentation was really rewarding, and I feel good knowing that I contributed to broadening the scope of possibilities for the classes of those who attended.
Additionally, giving this tech presentation was impactful for me in that it showed first-hand the value in sharing what you know, and, because of this, I’ve become more keen to learn from others. I am eager to seek out the contributions of my peers so that I might better understand the potential of being a good teacher. And by that same token, I am excited to find new opportunities to share my knowledge and experience so that I might help others gain new insights into their teaching practice. |
These group inquiries demonstrate my appreciation for this Standard’s sentiment towards educators contributing to the profession. Meeting as pre-service teachers twice a week to share learning and understanding directly aligns with the Standard’s idea that “educators support, mentor or encourage other educators and those preparing to enter the profession.” The insights that developed from these meetings greatly influenced my understanding of the profession, and I believe my research meaningfully contributed to the development of each group member. By employing a divide and conquer approach to our research, our group was able to learn much more than we would have been able to individually. Herein lies the value of TRB Standard 8. By helping one another, educators can employ teaching practice that is far greater than the sum of its parts. When an educator shares their experience and understanding it benefits the education of current students and all those to come. The magnitude of these contributions cannot be understated, and my involvement in these group inquiries exemplifies a commitment to this Standard.
